Barb’s Story
Barb’s health journey began when she was very young but didn’t come to the forefront until 2003. She had always thought she was pretty healthy and that being tired and stressed was just part of life, no big deal. Everything was going really well until she started experiencing skin rashes and then joint pain and swelling, digestive problems, and crippling fatigue, as well as other nagging symptoms that she brushed off as age-related and nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, in subsequent years she was diagnosed with multiple auto-immune diseases, which sent her down a path of difficult and expensive medications but ultimately led to a journey of self-discovery and hope.
After receiving yet another unwanted diagnosis in 2015, she went on an unrelenting quest to find the root cause of her health problems. She spent hundreds of hours on research and personal experimentation where she learned the value of whole food nutrition as well as the importance of other lifestyle factors such as movement, sleep, and stress management. She has personal experience in several different ways of eating, including Paleo, Low-Carb, Keto, and Carnivore, and understands the value of individualized and flexible nutritional plans that are both enjoyable and sustainable.
Her deep interest in wellness led her to become certified in health coaching, a process during which she had the privilege of being coached herself. The experience prompted her to align her life goals with her passion, so in early 2024 she retired from her 30+ year corporate career to dedicate herself to helping other women identify and achieve optimal wellness. Barb makes her home in East Tennessee with her wonderful husband and three feisty felines. She enjoys exercise, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
